The waters along the Long Beach Peninsula have an extremely dangerous riptide and undertow, but quite often that fact is ignored. There is no lifeguard on duty all along the 28 miles of beach access, but there is clearly someone sitting in Papa Bear's chair. Swimming is not advised, although several people are caught doing so in very rough seas. Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets, keeping them on a leash and safely away from others, but you will see animals running wild and free in all kinds of weather.
