As an embedded reporter, Neithammer has a single minded focus and obsession to report the controversial war from the "grunt's" point of view. It chronicles the lives and events of soldiers on the front line during the war. BOOK FOUR: Scott 'Journal' Niethammer, lost in the jungle and on his own, sees firsthand the terror the Vietnamese villages contend with on an almost daily basis. But he comes across an U.S. army dog named Luther who faithfully serves. And as Operation Pershing unleashes 'Journal' hears a tale from a young soldier about an action soldiers didn't usually talk about, especially to a reporter. It is a grey line between morality and loyalty and 'Journal' is also forced to deal with that situation. He also begins to put to paper the struggles of American prisoners of war held by the Viet Cong, as an American soldier, after brutal imprisonment by the Viet Cong, recounts his tale and 'Journal' finally understands how resilient the American soldier can be even at such a young age. BOOK FOUR collects comic issues 13-16.
