Reseña del libro "Timeliner: Like Moths to Light (en Inglés)"

A sci-fi comedy novel written in English, by an Italian author whose second language is French.Hello, this is the author. I tried getting someone important to write something fascinating and inspiring here, sadly, the only people I know that bear any importance are my family and as such, they are rather irrelevant to you, the potential reader. I then tried to contact a former English teacher of mine so that he could write the foreword but for some reason he is the last remaining person on the planet without any social media accounts, not even Google Plus. I tried resorting to smoke signals to track him down but that failed miserably and instead I got ticketed by the local fire department. So I gave up trying to find someone important to fill this space, instead enjoy this excerpt I've hand picked with my eyes from the book I typed with my fingers. Note that if you attempt reading the whole book, in your head, with an Italian accent you will fail: My Italian accent is terrible! Here's the excerpt: "Moments later, two clear large balls emerged from the window, rolling gently, appearing quite a bit lighter than they were in reality. Inside the first ball Trixie was running, looking like a red haired hamster in a toy hamster ball. She was carrying a rifle strapped over one shoulder, and had a backpack which she had doubtlessly filled with other goodies like ammo and supplies. Behind her, Svendt was doing everything he could to keep his balance in his own bubble. They rolled off the windowsills and onto the street.Well, not quite. The street - by now - was completely packed with a crowd of zombies so much so that the giant inflatable hamster balls didn't actually touch the street, but were instead being carried entirely by the sea of zombies that were all cramming to get to the shattered window. Like moths, they were attracted to the light emanating from Svendt and Trixie's life, much more than to the street lamps. While Trixie seemed to have better balance and could run making her cocoon roll about over the zombies at impressive speed, Svendt was another story. He tried keeping up with Trixie but all that he managed to do was fall over and roll inside the ball, carrying his own momentum along like a nickel inside a balloon. He rolled for a while until the ball finally stopped, coming to a halt several feet behind Trixie's own.Svendt got up and this time, decided to go about it slowly. He managed to follow Trixie slowly as she managed to get to the ground behind the area flooded with zombies, the TT40 was well within her reach but she couldn't quite pick it up because she was still inside her protective ball. She took out a hunting knife and without hesitation she sliced through the plastic envelope surrounding her. I'd love to describe a deflating sound here but sadly, because Trixie used such an effective and swift motion, she essentially sliced the whole ball in half and the only noise it made was the sound of limp plastic falling to the ground. Imagine dropping a badly deflated beach ball on cement.Svendt was keeping an eye on her but there were a few complications. His bubble had fallen to the ground about a dozen feet or so from Trixie, and they were separated by two zombies. The two ghouls took notice of Trixie's lifelight and started heading for her, Svendt pulled the hunting rifle he was carrying off his shoulder, and aimed at the zombies then a moment before squeezing the trigger, realized he'd likely shoot Trixie as well. Besides, after the sound his own breathing made inside the ball, he didn't want to know what a firearm sounded like in there. He quickly dropped the rifle and grabbed the long hunting knife from the backpack. The rifle he dropped bounced off the side of the inflated plastic envelope like a superball. It rebounded back towards him and he caught it instinctively with his free hand. Svendt tried dropping it again, and again it sprung back and again he caught it."
