The novel is a multi-layered narrative that uses the mythical, the scientific, and sometimes uncomfortable words to narrate the everyday in the Cornalus - a community that is 'fluffy warm as wing-pit of mother-hen, raw as gushing life, tragic-funny as brief vain struggle of an ill-tied ill-slaughtered goat.'
