This charming, illustrated children’s story is all about a very real cat - Betsy May. She’s an adorable, mischievous tortoiseshell kitten, who lives with her loving human family in Africa. Susie - Betsy May’s human mummy - loves her kitten very much. So much so, in fact, that she treats her like a precious little doll. And do you know what that means? Yes, you’ve guessed it… she dresses Betsy May in all her dolly’s clothes – even pantaloons, bonnets and necklaces. Sometimes, Betsy May loves all the attention (although the pantaloons can be a bit of squeeze to get on and off) and at other times, she has to just disappear and do her own cat thing. So off she goes, hunting in the garden and beyond. She plays with mice, and grass snakes, and even budgerigars and goldfish, which gets her into big trouble with her human family. But they can’t still mad with her for long. She’s delightful Betsy May, after all. And when she grows up into a cat, and has babies of her own, well, Betsy May’s tales just get even more exciting.
