"...It was part of creole jargon to always begin a statement with a certain word or phrase and end it with the same word or phrase; as well, almost any word that began with "th" had to be changed to "d." I had noticed this anomaly whenever someone visiting from Louisiana was conversing with my parents. What I wasn't quite ready for was how wonderful the native drawl rolled over everyone's tongue when they felt at home with someone. This way of speaking was pure poetry; the kind of speaking that reduced everyone to the friendliest of terms. It was the type of language that welcomed everyone to be family. Yes, I loved it, yes. And ya know, I even started to practice it - ya know?"
