In the midst of trying to solve these mysteries, she falls in love with the Doctor's assistant, finds her unbeknown half-brother, deals with three gangsters and rights a wrong that the KKK has done to a black man that was in hers & the Doctor's employment. In the end, she solves more mysteries that she set out to do, almost losing her life in the process.
