A teacher and retired pastor explores the portrait of Jesus presented by each of the Gospel writers as well as the evangelists of the early Church in Acts, Paul's portrait in his letters, the understanding of Jesus in the Letter to the Hebrews, and in the Book of Revelation. This work will be helpful to the layman or pastor who wishes to see the distinctive picture of Jesus presented by each New Testament writer. It will help readers sort out which Gospel is the bridge Gospel; which Gospel has the most parables; which Gospel shows Jesus' concern for the poor, the outcast, and women; and which Gospel stresses the supernatural. The profound view of Christ for Paul is presented, along with many other fascinating facts of the Christology of the Gospels and other New Testament writings. The Gnostic "gospels" are briefly treated and an Appendix gives a selection of Gnostic descriptions of Jesus, especially as a child. This book is the content of Sunday Evening lectures the author has presented in many churches to appreciative audiences of both clergy and lay members. Dr. Davis is a graduate of Stetson University, Southeastern Seminary, and holds the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
