Jennifer Allder is a young West Indian woman who struggles with the effects of emotional neglect. Her parents fail to act, tend or respond appropriately to her needs as a child. She receives subtle but powerful messages that her feelings don't matter. Ultimately, that she doesn't matter which severely disadvantages her.
