Because while Auntie loves, she desensitizes; while she feeds, she conditions; while she heals cuts and scrapes, she steals childhood. Auntie turns the children into . . . a product . . . for rent, by the hour. * Auntie is being stalked by law enforcement. A team of police officers, ranks and departments no longer relevant, are on loan to a special unit. They are all volunteers. The duty is difficult and the hours are long. No one complains. They are led by Police Inspector Jacqueline "Jack" MacKenzie. "Jack" has a secret. It's a secret every member of her team shares. On their side is a court-appointed defense lawyer -- just trying to do the right thing, just trying to help -- who gets in way over his head. Our story starts with Andy, who is about to start the process of becoming Auntie's newest product.
