She advocates for a more mindful approach to motherhood and family life. She correctly identifies that we are undergoing a tremendous shift in society as consequential as the Copernican revolution when the earth was no longer viewed to be the center of the universe. The globalization of the world and the shift in women's roles as they become more equal in the workforce has altered the traditional male and female responsibilities. The structure and functions of families is changing at an unprecedented rate. Some changes have been profoundly beneficial, while others have led to more isolation, unhappiness, and dysfunction in our core support system: the family. From Mothers to Daughters urges women to understand the importance of their role as a mother and the impact they will have on their child's psychological development. Parenting is a privilege and should be entered into with maturity, commitment, and an education. Ms. Ballinotti provides a well-researched look into the role of the mother, grandmother, and father in raising a healthy child. She provides readers with an understanding of child and adolescent development, and she argues for the primary role of the mother. As more and more women are combining motherhood and employment outside the house, we as a society need to be cognizant of the effects of our choices.
