Second Corinthians is not generally seen in the New Testament as a premier treatise on redemption and salvation, yet it is full of insightful truths on rescuing and saving. This autobiographical letter from Paul emphasizes the need and the promise of comfort. Comfort means standing beside a person, or, being brave together. When connected to God, you can be brave; he provides critical aid in times of trouble. Paul emphasizes the faithfulness of God and the comfort he provides, which is not temporary or sporadic. A compelling assurance in God for comfort, however, is conditional: trusting him regardless the situation and entering earnest intercession. Paul shows in his letter of comfort that anyone wishing to address the mosaic of comfort must stand unmasked and vulnerable. These thoughts about comfort come from someone who has benefited from the perpetual comfort of grace.
