Stuart's cavalry, but his former college antagonist watches for opportunities to destroy him. Like other books about the War Between the States, Along Sunken Roads emphasizes how boys became men early and how many were killed without ever returning home. The survivors faced a country left in shambles, broken promises, and reproachful memories. The author presents a unique, unbiased look at the pivotal years of the war and the heartbreaking disruptions it forced upon those involved in the centuries-old conflict. Author Davidson portrays the climax to America's embedded ways of life in an uplifting and compelling manner with characters who love and fight with abandon.
