Meditating on probabilities of spacetime, Accidentalism interrogates our four dimensions and pins one or two coordinates of the locations of What Happens When to the map of What If. The problem is every coordinate is a variable and the variables won't coordinate. It's not necessarily new information but it was new to Steven Turrill, who sat on a tree stump or a public bench or a toilet seat with a scowl on his face, thinking about thinking, or sat on the throne of an office desk chair that swivels, and he swiveled until he was nauseous. This is his fourth book of verse. The second edition of the fourth volume of the poet's lost work contains a new edit, reordering the pieces with a focus on thematic structure rather than collecting poems chronologically based on the dates of completed drafts. This second edition brings Accidentalism more in line with Turrill's original intent to write a collection of verse dedicated to paradoxes of space, time, and language.
