Human beings share common values, which give us the capacity to unite and live in greater peace and harmony than we now do. The divisiveness and suffering that pervade humanity are a reflection of our high degree of ignorance of who we are as human beings, and our capacity to unite around our commonality. This commonality is rooted in the Fundamental Principles of Humanity, principles that we all share. The philosophy of Leading From Above The Line recognises our basic human goodness and challenges us to better live out our inherent goodness by strengthening our inner selves. In so doing we will better accelerate our human development, thus minimising the many conflicts that continue to inflict pain, suffering and death on humanity. The spirit of the philosophy of Leading From Above The Line is expressed in our continuous striving to become better, even though we may never become perfect. Our potential is tied to recognising that we are part of a wider community-the human whole and are inseparably linked to all other human beings. We have a divine responsibility to contribute to the whole in keeping with our human existence, and in keeping with what we receive from the whole. Humanity is on a path to the greater realisation of the whole. Human beings long for world peace; they long for a more harmonious humanity and greater happiness. These are goals on which it is easy to find universal agreement but we so often get it wrong, very wrong. The philosophy of Leading From Above The Line helps us to chart our way forward towards the development of a greater humanity and the world peace that we all desire.
